Author Event - What Future with Kim Stanley Robinson

Join Davis author and What Future contributor, Kim Stanley Robinson, in conversation with Colin Milburn, Chair Professor of Science and the Humanities at the University of California, Davis, as they speak about the future of Earth as we know it and how Science Fiction should (and shouldn't) be used for real world predictions.

A best-of-the-year anthology, What Future is a collection of the most compelling, long-form journalism and essays that address a wide range of topics crucial to our future, from the environmental and political, gender and race, to human health and animal rights, to technology and the economy. What Future includes writing from world-renown authors, scientists, journalists, and philosophers who propose options facing us today and dare to ask, what's next?

Kim Stanley Robinson is an American science fiction writer. He is the author of more than twenty books, including the internationally bestselling Mars trilogy, and more recently New York 2140, Aurora, Shaman, Green Earth, and 2312, which was a New York Times bestseller, nominated for all seven of the major science fiction awards—a first for any book. His work has been translated into 25 languages, and has won a dozen awards in five countries, including the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and World Fantasy Awards. In 2016 he was given the Heinlein Award for lifetime achievement in science fiction.
