The Avid Reader is proud to welcome local author Ed Dawkins and true nature stories, Follow Your Dog: Adventures with Nature, in-store on Friday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m.
More about Follow Your Dog:
Dawkins’s volume contains true stories that engage the natural world ethically, physically, and philosophically. Follow Your Dog is much more than dogs or hunting or fishing. According to the author, the “dog” of the title is a metaphor for wild nature, it’s flora and fauna, outdoor rewards and penalties. Dawkins asserts his stories depend on nature’s complex web of humor, empathy, courage, fear, authenticity, and triumph. Dawkins believes our souls are not only evolutionarily inherited, but also guided by ongoing and tangled relationships with nature. When we accept the role of nature as teacher, we better understand our place in the world.
