Peter Grandbois lives in Davis, California, and is a professor of Creative Writing and Contemporary Literature at Sacramento State University. The Gravedigger is his first novel. The novel follows Juan Rodrigo, a gravedigger in a small Andalusian village, who hears the voices of the dead and tells their stories to the living. His job as a gravedigger turns out to have both rewards and dangers in a magical place where spirits and people coexist harmoniously.
